Going around in Circles

Good Morning, today's "design of the day" is a card that can be used for men or women and is a lot of fun to make!

I just got this new stamp set and could not wait to give it a try.  There are so many different circle patterns that I could not make up my mind which to use so I used them all, as you can see below.  This technique of overlapping stamps with different colors and designing an all over background pattern works with many of the Stampin' Up! stamps but it works particularly well on this set.  The scalloped circle that pops out on the cards left side was created by using my markers to color in different portions of the stamp and giving a 3-D illusion.

Fun card to make!!!

Stampin' Up! items used in making this card:
  • Bravo Burgundy, Marina Mist, Pumpkin Pie, and Whisper White Smooth Card Stock
  • Marina Mist, Pumpkin Pie and Bravo Burgundy Inks and Pens
  • Dimensionals
  • 1-3/4" Scallop Circle Extra Large Punch
  • "Circle Circus" and "Bring on the Cake" Stamp Sets

If you like to use punches over scissors, each of these stamps fits a Stampin' Up! Punch.

I hope your day is a great one!

Spoil Yourself

April is one of those months in our family where we have a bunch of birthdays.  Today's "design of the day" was created for one of these special people.

This is a card that would work well for a man.  I used a technique that gives it a more rugged look. The Old Olive sheet of paper was torn, by tearing toward myself.  Then to make the tear stand out, I sponged the edge with Chocolate Chip ink.

This tearing techniques works really well on scrapbook pages and because Stampin' Up! paper is colored all the way through you do not need to worry about sponging the edge, there is no white line running through the paper.

Items used on this card:
  • Cajun Craze, Old Olive, Marina Mist, and So Saffron Smooth Card Stock
  • Old Olive and Chocolate Chip Ink
  • Gold Brads and 3/8" Twill Tape
  • "Bring on the Cake" Stamp Set from the Occasions Mini Catalog

So many really unique birthday stamps!

Have a great day being creative, I will see you tomorrow!

Strawberry Fields

Today's "design of the day" was designed by my wonderfully creative daughter.

Last week during Spring Break we had a blast one day when we went to a Pick Your Own Strawberry Farm.  Today's card was created when we got home from that fun day together.

Because we did not have a Strawberry Punch my daughter used the Blossom Petals Punch, rounding the end of the petal that would normally be in the center of the flower and turning it upside down to form the strawberry.  She then took the 1-3/8" circle punch and made triangular cuts in the circle to create the top for each strawberry.  I think she did a wonderful job and we will definitely use the same technique when creating our scrapbook page for this event!

Items used to make this card:
  • Marina Mist, Old Olive, Early Espresso, and Real Red Smooth Card Stock
  • Early Espresso Ink
  • Two-Step Bird Extra Large, Scallop Trim Corner, Blossom Petals Extra Large, and 1-3/8" Circle Punches
  • "Live, Laugh, Love" Stamp
Have a great day, see you tomorrow!

Queen for a Day

What a great theme!

Haven't we all dreamed of being a princess or a queen at some point in our lives?  Today's card will surely make the special girl in your life feel like royalty!  I have a wonderful little girl in my life that I think will love this card.

I have used a new ribbon technique today, it really adds to the royal look of the card.  Instead of simply stretching my ribbon across the card and making a knot, I have doubled the ribbon back three times creating little pleats.  This is easy to do and the pleats can be held in place with the use of Glue Dots.  Give it a try on your next card or scrapbook page, I think you will love the special look.

Items used to make this card:
  • Rich Razzelberry, Whisper White, and Pretty in Pink Smooth Card Stock
  • Royal Rose and Rich Razzelberry Inks and Pens
  • Whisper White Satin Ribbon
  • 1-1/4" and 1-3/8" Square Punch
  • Scallop Trim Border
  • Modern Label Extra Large (I love this punch it works great with all the Teeny Tiny Wishes Stamps)
  • "Every Little Bit" and "Teeny Tiny Wishes" Stamp Set

This is a super awesome little stamp set!  With so many different selections to choose from, this makes a great set to start out with if you are just beginning your stamp collection!

Treat yourself to something special today, because you most certainly deserve the royal treatment!  I hope you enjoyed the "design of the day", see you tomorrow.

Bear Hugs

What says "Thank You" better than a Bear Hug and Yummy S'mores.

Today's "design of the day" will teach you two new stampin' techniques.  First, I stamped my bear on both the Soft Suede and River Rock Stampin' Up Card Stock.  I then cut out the portion of the stamp that included the bear's belly and snout printed on the River Rock Paper.  Once this was done all I needed to do was to attach it to the bear stamped on Soft Suede.  This can be done with many of the stamps instead of coloring in with pens or pencils.  I think the contrast in the two colors really make the Bear stand out.  Second, I created my own ribbon design.  Did you know you can stamp on many types of ribbon?  On this ribbon I stamped the Compass and S'More prints making the design really come together. When using this technique be sure to do a test first.

In creating this card I used Stampin' Up!'s
  • River Rock, Early Espresso, Tangerine Tango, and Soft Suede Smooth Card Stock
  • Daffodil Delight Designer Series Paper
  • Basic Black Stamp Pad
  • 3/4" Twill Tape
  • Gold Brads
  • "Under the Stars" Stamp Set

This set is great if you are a camper or scout and have scrapbook pages that need to be designed!
Big "Bear Hugs" from me to you, have a great day and I will see you tomorrow with more Stampin' Up! fun.
